You can help create the right environment for mental health inclusion by being a stigma free role model.

As a manager you can champion and influence a movement for change that promotes inclusivity and ends mental health stigma and discrimination in your workplace.

You can challenge and speak out against behaviours and attitudes that perpetuate stigma and discrimination. In addition you can:

  • Promote the inclusion of anti-stigma and inclusivity messages throughout work plans
  • Ensure good practice of existing policies that promote inclusivity, for example, reasonable adjustments
  • Role model and promoting and stigma free culture within the workplace, including creating an open and safe culture and challenging negative language
  • Champion awareness workshops and campaigns

Let’s Chat” is a practical tool with guidance, tips and scenarios for line managers and supervisors to start open and honest conversations about mental health in the workplace, without fear of stigma and discrimination. It was developed with support from employers and people who have experienced mental health stigma and discrimination in the workplace.
