Stigma Free Lanarkshire

NLCT Workshop

Stigma Free Lanarkshire are working in collaboration with North Lanarkshire Carers Together to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination. NLCT provides a range of information to Carers that can assist them in their caring role and raises the profile of carer’s issues and needs whilst actively linking carers and professionals in meaningful working relationships. They are a registered charity, working in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council, NHS Lanarkshire and a wide range of third sector and national organisations to influence policy development and service provision, which affect both carers and the people they care for.

This week, the NLCT team and directors took part in a workshop with us to think about how they can tackle mental health stigma and discrimination as a workplace. We used the conversation tool Ketso to facilitate discussions around understanding mental health, promoting positive mental health in the workplace, and the application of policies and procedures. The groups discussed what’s working well, what could be better, any obstacles, and created actions to take forward. From this, we will work with NLCT to create an action plan that will be launched at their pledge signing later this month.

NLCT Ketso

A big thank you to all involved, it was great to see how passionate the team are at NLCT and we are looking forward to working with them going forward. Look out for an update later this month ahead of Carers Rights day for more information on the North Lanarkshire Carers Together pledge signing.

Find out more about North Lanarkshire Carers Together by calling 01698 404055 or emailing enquiries@carerstogether.org. Keep up to date with them on Facebook and Twitter.

The purpose of Lanarkshire Links is to support mental health service users and carers to be involved in the process of planning services and service provision.

This will include ensuring that service providers are informed about problems with existing services and current examples of good practice which can be rolled out to other areas. That the process of involvement is inclusive and not detrimental to peoples’ health and welfare and that we can truly influence the services available in Lanarkshire.
