Lanarkshire has launched ‘Getting It Right for Every Person’ (GIRFEP) A Mental Health & Wellbeing Strategy for Lanarkshire (2019-2024)’, which aims to transform mental health and wellbeing by championing and promoting good mental health for all.
The new strategy was formally launched on 24th October at New College Lanarkshire Coatbridge Campus, Stigma Free Lanarkshire were lucky enough to attend the launch and host an awareness raising stall beforehand. A priority for the strategy is to end mental health stigma and discrimination, Stigma Free Lanarkshire are proud of the role we and all of our partners play in this.
Scott’s story from our Gathering Recovery Stories project was shown, to highlight the value of hearing from those with lived experience. The strategy aims to change how we think about mental health, and crucial to the development of the strategy was contributions of people with lived experience.
The toilets at 101 Park Street (NCL Coatbridge Campus) had these fantastic signposting information sheets on the back of the doors. Such an innovative way to provide support to those struggling with their mental health, and promoting the message “Don’t suffer in silence.” Could you put these in your organisation and help tackle stigma?
