Partners
Lanarkshire Links will work with the partnership agencies to ensure their support for the funding and development of local mental health issues groups.
Currently there are 9 groups across Lanarkshire. Each group has the support of the core development worker as and when they need it. The group members come from all walks of life and bring their own experience with them to assist the group to run. If coaching is required to empower someone to take on committee skills or office bearer positions then informal training sessions will be provided by the development worker.
Each group has started differently addressing the needs of those involved. Some groups have started with members who already have worked on committees others where no one has ever done this sort of work before. Everyone agrees however that getting out and doing this type of voluntary is good for your mental health giving you a sense of achievement in learning and being part of a peer support set up.
