John Miller

John Miller 20.10.50 - 15.01.05

It is with deep regret and sadness that we report the untimely passing of our friend, colleague and Manager, John Miller. John worked tirelessly for service users and carers to be involved in the planning of services. He played a major role in changing the attitudes of professionals towards the contribution made by all of us. John’s death came far too early at a time when he was achieving personal and professional fulfilment.

His work on behalf of Lanarkshire Links was receiving recognition locally and nationally. However, he will be remembered for the courage and tenacity with which he faced down his final illness. This will be a lasting testament to his strong and empathetic spirit. Our sincere condolences are offered to his wife Ina and both their families. It may be of some comfort to Ina that she can be sure John`s spirit will live on in the lives of the people he touched. It will be the service users and carers whose voices and opinions he helped to be heard that will keep him in our thoughts.

John was here at the very beginning of the service user and carer movement and it is fitting that we honour his memory by continuing to work in partnership to achieve the best mental health services in Lanarkshire
